About the position

The Occupational Therapist at Jackson Purchase Medical Center provides essential therapy services to patients, focusing on developing, recovering, and maintaining their occupational skills. This role involves assessing patients, designing treatment plans, implementing therapies, and educating patients and their families about care processes. The therapist also supervises assistants and technicians, ensuring compliance with regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient's ability to perform occupational skills safely and effectively.
  • Design the appropriate plan of care, including type and frequency of treatment.
  • Implement the treatment plan using appropriate modalities.
  • Document subjective and objective findings of patient progress.
  • Monitor and modify the plan of care as needed, seeking consultation as necessary.
  • Educate the patient and family/caregiver about patient deficits.
  • Plan and/or assist with patient discharge from therapy services and treatment setting.
  • Provide information regarding appropriate selection/use of adaptive equipment and support programs.
  • Supervise and delegate the care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and therapy technicians.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Occupational Therapist license from the Kentucky Board of Physical Therapist.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification may be obtained within 30 days of hire.
  • Critical thinking skills.
  • Decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
