Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial assessments of patients.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to patient needs.
  • Provide age-appropriate therapeutic interventions.
  • Evaluate patient responses to treatment and adjust plans as necessary.
  • Document patient care progress in the electronic medical record.
  • Educate patients and families on tasks and resources for functional independence.
  • Participate in discharge planning as part of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Engage in department performance improvement activities and collect relevant data.
  • Participate in survey preparation and department safety activities.
  • Contribute to cost-effective care delivery.
  • Participate in continuing education and professional development activities.
  • Communicate professionally with patients, families, and coworkers.
  • Adhere to policies of professional organizations and Bon Secours Virginia Health System.
  • Participate in team meetings and provide education to team members.
  • Assist in improving departmental efficiency and productivity.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Occupational Therapy or a qualified Bachelor's degree program approved by ACOTE.
  • Current state license or certification to practice occupational therapy.
  • Experience working with adult and geriatric populations is desirable.
  • Experience in an acute care setting is preferred but not required.
  • Current BLS certification or ability to obtain within ninety days of orientation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in mentoring students and volunteers.
  • Participation in marketing activities.
