About the position

The Occupational Therapist position at Jefferson Regional Specialty Hospital is a PRN role focused on providing high-quality rehabilitation services to adult and geriatric patients. The therapist will be responsible for assessing patient needs, implementing appropriate interventions, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient care. This role is essential in helping patients regain functional independence following various medical conditions, including strokes, brain injuries, and orthopedic surgeries.

Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibility and accountability for the care of patients treated by Certified Occupational Therapist Assistants, rehabilitation technicians, and occupational therapy students.
• Assesses patients' needs and initiates appropriate occupational therapy interventions.
• Works cooperatively with other patient team personnel to maintain standards for professional occupational therapy practice and interdisciplinary teamwork.
• Observes and evaluates treatment effects and the accomplishment of short and long-term goals, recommending changes to the physician if needed.
• Performs assessments and reassessments on each patient as per policy, including accurate and timely QI scoring.
• Assesses patient pain and makes appropriate interventions to reduce pain, contacting the physician as necessary.
• Performs all aspects of patient care in a safe environment that minimizes the likelihood of medical errors.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Current licensure as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Arkansas.
• Effective oral and written communication skills in English; additional languages preferred.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.

Nice-to-haves

• Previous experience in all aspects of occupational therapy preferred, but not required.
