About the position

The Occupational Therapist PRN at AdventHealth Shawnee Mission is responsible for evaluating and treating patients with various physical, emotional, and cognitive limitations. This role emphasizes whole-person care, ensuring that patients can perform daily living activities safely and effectively. The therapist will design and implement treatment plans, document patient progress, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare professionals.

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and treats patients with physical, emotional, cognitive, psychosocial limitations as prescribed.
• Assesses patient ability to perform independent activities of daily living.
• Documents and charges accurately and timely using measurable and objective terminology.
• Designs and implements treatment plans based on practice standards and patient needs.
• Monitors patient response to treatment and modifies plans as necessary.
• Provides discharge planning assistance and information on adaptive equipment.
• Communicates effectively with patients, families, and healthcare professionals.
• Oversees care provided by certified occupational therapy assistants and aides.
• Meets productivity standards defined by the department.
• Attends department meetings and education as required.
• Maintains clinical knowledge and serves as a clinical instructor.
• Educates patients, family members, and caregivers about identified needs.
• May assist in marketing the occupational therapy program.
• Adjusts working hours to assist in other centers as needed.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support - CPR Certification required before starting patient care.
• Licensed as an Occupational Therapist in applicable state or holds a Temporary State permit.
