As an Occupational Therapist PRN at AdventHealth South Overland Park, you will play a crucial role in evaluating and treating patients with various physical, emotional, cognitive, and psychosocial limitations. Your primary responsibility will be to assist patients in regaining their independence in activities of daily living as prescribed by their medical professionals. Monitoring patient progress and modifying treatment plans as necessary will be key components of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will provide discharge planning assistance, ensuring that patients and their families are well-informed about adaptive equipment and follow-up services. Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare professionals across various care settings is essential. You will oversee the work of certified occupational therapy assistants and rehabilitation therapy aides, ensuring compliance with established regulations and practice standards. This position requires flexibility, as you may need to adjust your working hours to accommodate changes in patient census and assist in other programs as needed. You will also have opportunities to engage in professional development and performance improvement initiatives, maintaining your clinical knowledge and serving as a clinical instructor when necessary. Your role may also involve marketing the occupational therapy program within the hospital and the community, contributing to the overall mission of AdventHealth to extend the healing ministry of Christ.
