About the position

The Occupational Therapist position at the Oklahoma City VA Medical Center involves providing comprehensive occupational therapy services aimed at the prevention, remediation, and rehabilitation of both physical and mental dysfunctions in veterans. The role includes evaluating patients, developing individualized treatment plans, and collaborating with healthcare teams to ensure quality care. The therapist will work across various settings, including inpatient and outpatient services, and may supervise occupational therapy assistants and volunteers.

Responsibilities

  • Provide occupational therapy evaluation and treatment for veterans with acute and chronic conditions.
  • Develop and implement individualized occupational therapy treatment programs based on patient assessments.
  • Collaborate with patients, families, and treatment teams to establish treatment goals and plans.
  • Document patient responses to treatment and progress towards goals as per VA regulations.
  • Oversee treatment provided by occupational therapy assistants (COTA) and coordinate with volunteers.
  • Facilitate safe patient transfers and assist with neuro-motor function using hands-on techniques.
  • Monitor and revise treatment methods to align with current standards and regulations.

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational therapy or higher, with relevant experience or education as specified.
  • Current NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist.
  • Full, current, and unrestricted state license to practice occupational therapy.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two years of geriatric experience preferred.
  • Two years of home health experience preferred.
