About the position

The Occupational Therapist at JAG Physical Therapy is responsible for assessing patients' strengths and weaknesses to develop effective treatment plans aimed at improving their functional independence. This role emphasizes patient confidentiality, collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, and specialized interventions, particularly in Hand Therapy. The ideal candidate will possess strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a commitment to fostering a supportive environment for patients.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patients' strengths and weaknesses to create effective treatment plans.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and practice discretion.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to provide comprehensive care.
  • Implement and execute daily treatment plans based on evaluations.
  • Conduct Hand Therapy evaluations and treatments, including orthosis fabrication.
  • Collect and record patient care data in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Prepare for evaluations by obtaining patient history and understanding diagnoses.
  • Select and administer appropriate tests and measures for evaluations.
  • Establish treatment plans based on evaluation results and best practices.
  • Reassess and modify treatment plans and goals as necessary.
  • Provide education and training to patients and their support systems.
  • Oversee support staff including COTA and OT aides.
  • Promote JAG Physical Therapy in the community through presentations and lectures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Occupational Therapy required; Doctorate preferred.
  • Licensed Occupational Therapist in the appropriate state (NY, NJ).
  • Completed state regulated CEU requirements.
  • Valid CPR License.
  • 1+ years of professional OT experience.
  • Experience with EMR software preferred.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong clinical decision-making skills.
  • Basic computer skills and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Hand Therapy and knowledge of related evaluations and treatments.
  • Familiarity with reimbursement systems and their impact on patient care.
