About the position

The Occupational Therapy Instructor position at Brookline College is a per diem role focused on delivering high-quality education to students in a hybrid program. The instructor will leverage their clinical experience and knowledge to teach and evaluate students, ensuring they are well-prepared for careers as Occupational Therapy Assistants. The role emphasizes maintaining subject matter expertise, utilizing distance education methodologies, and implementing strategies for student retention and success.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a teaching load per semester as assigned.
  • Demonstrate subject matter expertise, including distance education for online courses.
  • Apply established teaching criteria and procedures to support student learning.
  • Employ various distance education teaching methodologies for quality improvement.
  • Utilize the Learning Management System (LMS) to deliver course content and provide feedback.
  • Ensure appropriate curriculum design in partnership with the program director.
  • Monitor and track student retention using attendance records.
  • Implement data-driven strategies for student retention improvement.
  • Remain proficient in course content, learning outcomes, and assessment activities.
  • Teach assigned courses within the maximum contact hours allowed.
  • Continuously improve instruction quality by reviewing and utilizing different techniques.
  • Aid in planning, development, and maintenance of program curriculum.
  • Evaluate students' progress and inform them promptly.
  • Submit required program reports and forms on time.
  • Maintain continuing education hours for OT or COTA licensure renewal.
  • Maintain student records of attendance and skill competency documents.
  • Partner with program director to resolve student appeals.
  • Attend faculty meetings as determined by program director.
  • Engage in professional development and training for teaching methodologies.
  • Maintain professional relationships with colleagues, students, and the community.
  • Coordinate the needs of a diverse student population.
  • Manage student retention with data-informed strategies.
  • Participate in local student retention initiatives.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to diverse backgrounds of students and faculty.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited program recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education or CHEA in the specialty field.
  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • Current licensure as a Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) or Occupational Therapist (OT) in Arizona.
  • Three years of practical experience in the assigned occupational therapy assistant program content.
  • Documented expertise in teaching responsibility, content delivery system, and teaching methodology.
