About the position

As a Substitute Teacher for Orange County Public Schools, you will play a vital role in the educational journey of students by stepping into the classroom in the absence of the regular teacher. In addition to following lesson plans, you will be tasked with building positive relationships with students, assigning reasonable tasks and homework, and motivating students to participate actively in their learning. For long-term assignments, you may also be required to develop lesson plans, create assessments, and grade student work. Responsibilities

  • Assume duties of the classroom teacher in accordance with school district lesson plans, school rules, and Kelly policies.
  • Lead instruction in the classroom by conducting the teacher's existing lesson plans.
  • Instruct students on a variety of classroom topics/courses.
  • Build positive relationships with students.
  • Assign reasonable tasks and homework to students.
  • Motivate students to learn and encourage classroom participation.
  • Create a classroom environment conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of students.
  • Adapt to the various learning styles of students.
  • For long-term assignments, develop lesson plans, create, administer, and grade tests and assignments.

Requirements

  • 60 college credits or an Associate's degree.
