About the position

LG Electronics is seeking an OEM Compressor Development / Application Engineer to join our Component Solutions Engineering Team in Farmers Branch, TX. This role is pivotal in driving the development and application of compressors for HVAC industries, particularly focusing on air conditioning and refrigeration systems for both residential and commercial products. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in compressor development and will be responsible for project management, development guidance, and facilitating high-volume compressor applications between LG's Research and Development (R&D) team and OEM manufacturers. In this position, you will actively seek compressor application opportunities with OEM partners, engaging in daily interactions with various internal teams including Sales, Quality, and R&D, as well as designated OEM partners. Your role will involve identifying and qualifying OEM opportunities, providing technical and process support during qualification and reliability activities for LG Compressor products, and preparing technical communication documents for customers. You will leverage your specialized expertise as a sales engineer and project team leader, performing detailed engineering analyses to quantify cost savings and benefits associated with OEM compressors. Additionally, you will develop comprehensive project submittals that include performance information, component lists, mechanical and process instrumentation drawings, vendor component information, and project milestone details. Participation in trade shows and exhibitions related to LG's compressor business will also be part of your responsibilities, along with occasional international travel to LG's headquarters in Korea.

Responsibilities

• Seek compressor application opportunities with OEM partners.
• Engage in daily interactions with LG Sales, Quality, R&D, and designated OEM partners.
• Identify and assist OEM customers in qualifying OEM opportunities.
• Provide technical or process support to OEM partners during qualification and reliability activities for LG Compressor products.
• Prepare technical and customer communication documents.
• Perform detailed engineering analysis to quantify OEM Compressor cost savings and benefits.
• Review and provide detailed mechanical and electrical drawings specific to each project.
• Develop project submittals including performance information, component lists, and project milestone information.
• Participate in trade shows and exhibitions related to LG's Compressor business.
• Travel internationally to LG HQ in Korea as needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a related field.
• 8+ years of experience in compressor manufacturing related to residential or commercial air conditioning or heat pump products.
• Membership in ASHRAE, IDEA, or function-specific licenses or certifications preferred.
• Strong analytical capabilities and project management skills.
• Competence in analyzing mechanical and electronic compressor systems.
• Effective leadership skills in team settings.
• Good written and verbal communication skills, comfortable in customer-facing situations.
• Strong basic computer skills, including MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Project.
• Ability to travel approximately 30%.

• Experience in rating large tonnage commercial AC solutions.

Benefits

• Base pay range of $95,000 - $135,000.
• Commission/incentive plan included in total compensation.
