About the position

The Office/Accounting Manager is responsible for overseeing all office administration and accounting functions within the organization. This role involves managing daily operations, ensuring compliance with financial regulations, and preparing financial statements. The position requires a strong understanding of job costing and the ability to close out financial statements for month-end and year-end reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage daily office operations, ensuring efficient workflows and processes.
  • Handle job costing, including tracking expenses and revenues for construction projects.
  • Prepare and review financial statements for month-end and year-end closing.
  • Ensure compliance with sales tax regulations and other applicable financial regulations.
  • Develop and implement accounting policies and procedures to improve accuracy and efficiency.
  • Assist with budget preparation and financial forecasting.
  • Maintain organized financial records and documentation.
  • Collaborate with project managers and other team members to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing training and support as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience in accounting or office management, preferably within the contracting industry.
  • Strong knowledge of job costing, sales taxes, and financial reporting.
  • Formal accounting training sufficient to close out financial statements.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in accounting software Quickbooks is required.
