About the position

The Early Childhood School (ECS) of B'nai Shalom of Olney is seeking an Office Administrator to support the ECS Director and teaching staff in ensuring the smooth operation of the school. This role is pivotal in creating a welcoming environment for families and staff, as the Office Administrator will be the first point of contact for inquiries and assistance. The ECS provides early childhood education for children aged 18 months to 5 years, emphasizing discovery, connection, and joy in a nurturing environment. The Office Administrator will be responsible for various administrative tasks, including managing the front office, answering phone calls, ordering supplies, and maintaining student files. Additionally, the role involves compiling weekly communications for the community, supporting teachers with administrative tasks, and occasionally assisting in the classroom. The ideal candidate will possess a friendly demeanor, strong organizational skills, and the ability to multitask effectively. Experience in early childhood education is preferred, along with a minimum of two years of relevant office or administrative experience. The position requires proficiency in computer literacy, including website upkeep and social media management, as well as familiarity with Microsoft Office and Shulcloud (training will be provided). Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential, as is the ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions. This part-time position offers a flexible schedule, with expected hours of 35 per week, and is located in Olney, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Manning the front office and being the initial interface for family and staff needs.
  • Answering the phone and addressing inquiries.
  • Managing inventory and supply ordering.
  • Coordinating snack and food ordering.
  • Organizing and maintaining student files.
  • Compiling weekly communications to the community, including social media updates.
  • Supporting teachers with printing, scanning, and laminating tasks.
  • Occasionally assisting teachers in the classroom.

Requirements

  • Able to work collaboratively with ECS and BSO staff.
  • Demonstrate computer literacy and competence with website upkeep, social media, Microsoft Office, and Shulcloud (training will be provided).
  • Demonstrate excellent communication skills through written, oral, and electronic means.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and multitasking skills.
  • Maintain discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism at all times.
  • Have experience in early childhood education.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of relevant office or administrative experience preferred.
