About the position

The Office Aide - Clerk - Treasurer position involves providing general office support under the supervision of the City Clerk/Treasurer, particularly during tax season and in the absence of other clerical staff. The role requires handling various administrative tasks, including processing payments and assisting the public with inquiries.

Responsibilities

  • Process tax and utility payments by verifying information on checks and bills.
  • Enter utility payments collected at area banks into the computer system.
  • Receive and process all tax and utility payments from walk-in customers.
  • Open and sort mail, separating it by utility, tax, and miscellaneous payments.
  • Batch and process cash receipts, including balancing total checks received.
  • Answer public inquiries regarding tax payments, millage rates, and City policies.
  • Register new voters and maintain voter registration records on a computer file.
  • Perform various support tasks such as typing, copying, and filing documents.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of three years' experience in customer service and general office procedures.
  • Proficient computer skills and ability to multi-task.
