About the position

The Office and Administrative Specialist, Senior position at the Minnesota Department of Corrections involves providing administrative and technical support to the Evidence-Based Practices (EBP) and Research Units. The role focuses on assisting staff in delivering training, supporting professionals statewide, and coordinating various administrative functions to ensure efficient operations. This includes office management, data collection, contract implementation, and event coordination, all aimed at improving the quality of services provided by the department.

Responsibilities

  • Provide administrative and technical support to the Evidence-Based Practices and Research Units.
  • Assist staff in delivering training and supporting professionals in effective interventions and services.
  • Coordinate assessment, evaluation, reporting, and implementation of effective programming and services.
  • Develop and follow administrative procedures for efficient operations.
  • Manage general office tasks, communications, and data reporting.
  • Implement and monitor contracts and purchasing activities.
  • Coordinate events and activities related to the department's services.

Requirements

  • English language skills sufficient to communicate effectively with internal staff and external customers.
  • Proficiency in word processing software such as Microsoft Word for preparing and modifying documents.
  • Data entry skills to access and update DOC-specific databases and systems.
  • Database management skills to query and interpret information from computer logs and systems.
  • Skills in using spreadsheet software like Microsoft Excel for data management and reporting.
  • Customer service skills to provide accurate information to customers via phone, in person, and email.
  • Ability to develop administrative and programmatic procedures for organizing and drafting materials.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of all data and information.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two or more years of experience in an office setting providing administrative support and customer service.
  • Experience with computer applications and databases relevant to criminal justice.
  • Experience in file management and maintaining accurate records.
