About the position

The Office Assistant 2 - Front Desk position at the Multnomah County Health Department is a Limited Duration Assignment (LDA) focused on providing essential administrative support primarily at the front reception desk of the Women, Infants and Children (WIC) program. The role involves screening applicants for eligibility, managing appointments, and delivering excellent customer service in both Spanish and English. This position is integral to promoting health equity and wellness in the community, aligning with the department's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Work primarily at the front reception desk of the WIC program.
  • Screen applicants for eligibility and manage appointment scheduling.
  • Check participants in and out of appointments.
  • Answer routine questions and document transactions.
  • Issue food benefits and prepare mailings.
  • Use critical thinking to address problems at the front desk.
  • Provide backup phone support and work cooperatively with teammates.
  • Deliver excellent customer service throughout all interactions.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade.
  • Two years of general office support or customer service experience dealing directly with the public.
  • Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking both Spanish and English languages.

Nice-to-haves
