About the position

Come work at one of South Carolina's largest bankruptcy filers. We are looking for a receptionist/legal assistant in our Charleston office. This position involves a variety of responsibilities that are crucial for the smooth operation of our legal practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting, examining, and organizing evidence and other legal documents for attorney review and case preparation. This includes handling bankruptcy correspondence and communicating with bankruptcy courts, clients, trustees, and attorneys. The role requires processing payments, assisting existing clients, and performing new client intake. The successful candidate must be able to multitask on special projects and work directly with legal personnel. Being a team player is essential, along with having a high attention to detail, flexibility, and patience. The receptionist/legal assistant will also communicate with clients and witnesses to schedule meetings, interviews, and signings. Additionally, managing, organizing, and maintaining documents in both paper and electronic filing systems is a key part of the job. General administrative assistance is also required, such as maintaining the attorney's calendar and making travel arrangements. This is a full-time position with a standard 8-hour shift from Monday to Friday, and the pay starts at $15.00 per hour. The work location is in person at our office located at 2170 Ashley Phosphate Rd, North Charleston, SC 29406.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and professional demeanor.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently, manage large workloads, and keep deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Customer service experience (1 year preferred).
