About the position

The Office Automation Assistant will support the Administration Department of the Naval Safety Command (COMNAVSAFECOM) by managing various office tasks, including document processing, database management, and personnel administration. This role is essential for ensuring the smooth operation of office functions and maintaining accurate records.

Responsibilities

  • Review projects to select appropriate application software packages.
  • Create, copy, edit, insert, delete, move, store, retrieve, and print a variety of standard documents.
  • Manipulate data in existing databases and design new databases and reports.
  • Review completed assignments for technical accuracy and monitor timeliness.
  • Process personnel pay, gains and losses, transfers, retirement and separation packages, and leave requests.
  • Schedule conference rooms and provide central phone answering services.
  • Manage record management services.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to GS-05 level in federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector.
  • Experience in preparing, receiving, and reviewing documents.
  • Proficient in utilizing a mail system for processing incoming and outgoing mail.
  • Ability to articulate effectively and convey written information clearly and concisely.
  • Experience in utilizing databases or spreadsheets for data management and reporting.
  • Experience in preparing business correspondence, memoranda, directives, and reports.
