This position is both administrative and operational, with primary responsibility for allocating orders, releasing work to the warehouse floor, balancing workflow, and ensuring inbound and outbound shipment times are within acceptable levels to meet customer needs. The role also involves ensuring all shipments are closed, dispatched, and all paperwork is processed correctly. Communication with internal customers, transportation, and external customers regarding shipment statuses is a key aspect of this position. The essential job functions include assigning and monitoring work, batching incoming orders by client and service level, allocating shipments for processing, and controlling the priority and pick levels of each order. The position requires ensuring communication between pickers and replenishers for stock replenishment needs, assisting in staging and shipping products, scheduling LTL shipments, preparing billings, and ensuring timely shipment of goods. Additionally, the role involves investigating complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise, directing activities related to documentation and routing of freight, and verifying compliance with special shipping requirements. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently and within a team are essential for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Assigns and monitors the work including staging, wave times and pick assignments for various teammates.
  • Batches all incoming orders together by client, service level and order type.
  • Allocates all LTL/FTL (International and Domestic) shipments for processing.
  • Controls the priority and pick levels of each order and maintain priority of emergency orders.
  • Ensures communication between pickers and replenishers for stock replenishment needs and troubleshoot as needed.
  • Assists the staging and shipping of products from the dock which includes QC loads, loading, manifesting and finally closing of the trailers to be released.
  • Schedules LTL, verifying inbound and outbound appointments.
  • Prepares billings from tariff, complete manual BOL according to type and weight of freight or merchandise.
  • Ensures that each load gets shipped correctly and timely to avoid missing deliveries or lost goods.
  • Ensures that inbound shipments are received in a timely manner and are directed accordingly.
  • Communicates with yard jockey and security to coordinate trailer placement.
  • Communicates with carriers and brokers to keep appointments aligned.
  • Creates transportation equipment in WMS.
  • Investigates shipper or consignee complaints regarding lost or damaged merchandise or shortages in shipment to determine responsibility.
  • Directs and coordinates activities concerned with the documentation and routing of outgoing and incoming freight.
  • Reviews documents to ensure that assigned classifications and tariffs are in accordance with mode of transportation and destination of shipment.
  • Ensures special shipping requirements are adhered to prior to shipment of goods.
  • Verifies and maintains records of incoming and outgoing goods.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalency.
  • Some college experience preferred.
  • Minimum 3 months and up to and including 1 year related experience and/or training.
  • Experience with warehouse equipment including warehouse management system (JDA experience preferred).
  • Knowledge in Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to organize and execute work tasks in a timely manner.
  • Ability to work independently and with a team.
