About the position

Exela Technologies is seeking a dedicated Office Clerk to join our team in Chicago, IL. This temporary full-time position is designed for individuals who are customer-oriented and eager to provide exceptional service. As an Office Clerk, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that our mail center operates smoothly and efficiently. Your primary responsibilities will include sorting, metering, folding, inserting, delivering, and picking up mail and packages. You will also be responsible for handling time-sensitive materials, including confidential and urgent packages, and ensuring that all tasks are completed with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail. In this role, you will be expected to maintain the highest levels of customer care while demonstrating a friendly and cooperative attitude. Flexibility is key, as you will need to adapt to customer demands in a high-volume production environment. You will operate various mailing, copying, and scanning equipment, and you will be responsible for entering information into spreadsheets and maintaining logs and reporting documentation. Additionally, you will participate in cross-training and perform other duties as assigned, including filing and outgoing shipments. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of six months of customer service-related experience and possess strong keyboarding and PC skills, particularly in a Windows environment. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to work effectively both individually and as part of a team. You should be capable of performing multiple functional tasks and be willing to work additional hours if required. Physical requirements include the ability to lift up to 55 lbs, stand, walk, and engage in repetitive motion activities as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform various Mail Center activities (sorting, metering, folding, inserting, delivery, pickup, etc.)
  • Lift heavy boxes, files or paper when needed
  • Maintain the highest levels of customer care while demonstrating a friendly and cooperative attitude
  • Demonstrate flexibility in satisfying customer demands in a high volume, production environment
  • Operate mailing, copy or scanning equipment
  • Sort and deliver mail, small packages
  • Handle time-sensitive material like confidential, urgent packages
  • Scan incoming mail to recipients
  • Perform file purges and pulls
  • Create files and ship files
  • Enter information daily into spreadsheets
  • Identify charges and match them to billing
  • Maintain all logs and reporting documentation, attention to detail
  • Consistently adhere to business procedure guidelines and safety procedures
  • Take direction from supervisor or site manager
  • Participate in cross-training and perform other duties as assigned (Filing, outgoing shipments, etc.)
  • Provide backfill when needed

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 months customer service-related experience
  • Keyboarding and Windows environment PC skills required (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Experience running mail posting equipment a plus
  • Experience with data entry is desirable
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written
  • Ability to effectively work individually or in a team environment
  • Competency in performing multiple functional tasks
  • Ability to meet employer's attendance policy
  • Willingness and availability to work additional hours if assigned
  • 18 Years of Age or Older
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English
  • Ability to work at a computer for extended periods
