About the position

The Office Clerk position at Meadowlark Elementary is designed to provide essential clerical support to school personnel, ensuring efficient communication and record-keeping within the school environment. The role involves interacting with students, staff, and the public, maintaining accurate records, and assisting in various administrative tasks to support the overall functioning of the school.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with compiling student records to meet state, federal, and district requirements.
  • Contacts and works with building substitutes to ensure class coverage during employee absences.
  • Collects payments and fees for assigned transactions.
  • Communicates with a variety of individuals to provide information and resolve problems.
  • Coordinates activities to maintain departmental efficiency and compliance with regulations.
  • Directs activities of student workers to maximize efficiency and meet work requirements.
  • Ensures accuracy of attendance records to comply with state laws.
  • Maintains a variety of confidential and non-confidential records for audit purposes.
  • Maintains inventory of office supplies to ensure availability.
  • Monitors students referred for illness or disciplinary action for their safety and welfare.
  • Operates automated student attendance systems for accurate tracking and documentation.
  • Performs record keeping and general clerical functions to support departmental operations.
  • Prepares various documents and materials for communication and documentation purposes.
  • Processes documents, forms, and reports to disseminate information and complete transactions.
  • Receives and distributes supplies and correspondence to building staff in a timely manner.
  • Responds to inquiries from staff, the public, parents, and students for information and direction.
  • Supports assigned administrators and building certified staff in maintaining building operations.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Job-related experience is desired.
  • Skills in operating standard office equipment and performing standard bookkeeping.
  • Ability to perform basic math calculations and understand complex instructions.
  • Knowledge of business telephone etiquette and grammar concepts.

  • CPR Certification (training provided)

Benefits

  • Salary range of $15.88 to $17.36 per hour.
  • Full-time position with 8 hours per day for a 202-day school year.
