About the position

The Office Coordinator for Anatomic Pathology at Tampa General Hospital provides essential secretarial and administrative support to Pathologists and staff within the department. This role involves managing schedules, handling correspondence, and ensuring the smooth operation of office functions while adhering to established policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provide secretarial support to Pathologists and other staff members in the Anatomic Pathology department.
  • Receive visitors and schedule meetings and conferences.
  • Maintain the pathologist's calendar and type correspondence.
  • Prepare spreadsheets and presentations as needed.
  • Conduct special projects as assigned.
  • Receive, correlate, and deliver specimens and reports while adhering to biological and safety policies.
  • Perform troubleshooting and quality assurance monitoring.
  • Maintain surgical pathology files and records and follow detailed procedures.
  • Perform all computer functions related to the role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of progressive clerical or secretarial experience; education beyond high school may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology or transcription preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in medical transcription.
  • Quality assurance experience.
