About the position

The Illinois Department of Natural Resources is looking to hire an Office Coordinator for the Office of Land Management at Eagle Creek State Park. This position will provide specialized office support functions for Eagle Creek State Recreational Area, Wolf Creek State Park and its other satellites. The ideal candidate will have experience as a timekeeper and have the ability to balance accounts, utilize organizational skills and use the computer to prepare a variety of documents, databases and spreadsheets. The sites at Eagle Creek in Shelby County encompass 11,100-acres of water, 250 miles of shoreline and large tracts of carefully maintained indigenous woodland ideal for camping, hiking, horseback riding, snowmobiling, fishing, water skiing, pontoon boating and windsurfing. Responsibilities

  • Provides complex, specialized office support functions for Eagle Creek State Recreational Area, Wolf Creek State Park, and its satellites
  • Assists with the preparation of the operational budgets, concession evaluations, contractor bids, Plans of Work, equipment request, and inventory records
  • Administers campground/shelter reservation system and assists with recreational programs
  • Serves as an office receptionist at Eagle Creek State Park
  • Serves as timekeeper for Eagle Creek SRA, Wolf Creek State Park, and other regional staff as assigned
  • Creates and maintains storage of records and files pertaining to permits, timekeeping, budgets, inventory, vendor files, training, and all park records
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above

Requirements

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to two years of secretarial/business college, or completion of high school and two years of related office experience or two years of independent business experience
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 30 wpm

Nice-to-haves

  • One (1) year of extensive knowledge of basic mathematics
  • One (1) year of working knowledge of the logic of computer programs
  • One (1) year of experience having the ability to follow oral or written instructions
  • One (1) year of extensive knowledge of composition, grammar, spelling, and punctuation
