About the position

The Office Engineer/Construction Administrator at HDR Architecture Inc. plays a crucial role in the development, organization, and tracking of construction documentation. This position is essential for ensuring that all aspects of construction projects are meticulously documented and managed. The successful candidate will assist in the preparation of change orders, cost estimates, plan revisions, and specifications, which are vital for the smooth execution of construction projects. The role requires performing routine engineering assignments that necessitate the application of various software tools, including spreadsheets, databases, PDFs, and scheduling software. The assignments typically have clear objectives and limited variables, allowing the engineer to work independently on most tasks while also providing assistance to more senior engineers on complex assignments. Additionally, the Office Engineer may provide direction to clerical and technical personnel, ensuring that all team members are aligned and informed throughout the project lifecycle. In this position, the Office Engineer/Construction Administrator will be responsible for reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications, identifying discrepancies or conflicts within the documents, and developing and maintaining both paper and electronic files using standardized filing organization. The role also involves managing contractor submittals, ensuring completeness, routing for review and approval, and documenting acceptance. Effective communication with contractors is essential to resolve issues or problems, particularly concerning administrative items. Furthermore, the Office Engineer will ensure that all documentation for federally funded projects is completed in compliance with federal aid requirements, including the verification of certified payrolls, training, and Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) compliance. The successful candidate will also be tasked with developing or revising current forms or processes to enhance existing systems and processes. Researching and providing information to support the resolution of problems or issues is another critical aspect of this role. The Office Engineer will provide leadership and guidance to ensure compliance with document control best management practices and requirements for federal funds. Responsibilities also include reviewing payment records, preparing monthly payment applications, and managing documents for construction meetings, including agendas and notes. The role may also involve assisting with project audits and closeouts, all while working under the general supervision of a more senior Construction Engineering Manager. This position is based in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and requires excellent communication and organizational skills to work effectively with contractors, clients, and other HDR staff.
