About the position

The Office Manager/General Manager position at a well-established Asian food import and distribution company involves overseeing various management responsibilities to ensure smooth operations. The role requires collaboration with the CEO and other teams to set goals, manage hiring processes, and maintain relationships with suppliers and vendors. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in management and accounting, with the potential for growth into a general management role.

Responsibilities

  • Work with management to set goals, KPIs, and company targets and work to achieve these goals.
  • Collaborate with the sales team on sales forecasts and ensure revenue targets are met.
  • Manage team member hiring process.
  • Oversee HR, review, and discipline processes.
  • Work with suppliers, vendors, and insurance companies to ensure smooth business operations.
  • Coordinate communications and serve as a liaison between office, sales team, and warehouse.
  • Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, and general accounting tasks.
  • Analyze customer payments, issue credits, and initiate contact with delinquent customers for timely invoice collection.
  • Handle customer orders, invoicing, and maintain up-to-date credit files.
  • Verify expense reports and assist with quarterly physical inventory counts.
  • Oversee company expenses, negotiate vendor discounts, and maintain productive relationships with suppliers.
  • Identify and resolve issues and bottlenecks company-wide.
  • Assist with additional tasks as required to contribute to the overall success of the company.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business.
  • Minimum of 10 years of office or general management experience, ideally in a company with over 30 employees.
  • Fluency in Mandarin Chinese (reading and writing).
  • Accounting experience is a plus.
  • Food industry experience is a plus.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Outlook.
  • Experience with major cloud accounting packages (e.g., Oracle Netsuite) and CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce).

Nice-to-haves

  • Fluency in Cantonese (Preferred).
  • Willingness to travel 25% (Preferred).
