About the position

The Camp Business Manager at YMCA of Greensboro is responsible for overseeing all business operations related to office management, fundraising campaigns, camper registration, and group bookings. This role is crucial in supporting the YMCA's mission of strengthening community foundations through Youth Development, Healthy Living, and Social Responsibility, while embodying the organization's core values of caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Manage purchasing and financial records such as processing bills, end of days, invoices, camp registrations, and parent communications.
  • Assist executive director with budget creation and management.
  • Coordinate with the metro office on office/business related items.
  • Assist executive director with all fundraising campaigns/activities.
  • Manage camp software system.
  • Review and process scholarship applications.
  • Create a marketing plan for summer resident camp, day camp, and year-round outdoor education, including development and production of appropriate brochures for both programs.
  • Create spring and fall newsletters for previous campers to encourage repeat enrollment.
  • Hire, train, and supervise seasonal office staff.
  • Organize and set up recruitment events for staff and campers.
  • Manage business side of camp check in/out.
  • Prepare administrative department payroll for Metro processing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (B.A.) from a four-year college or university; or minimum of one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to do basic math and calculate figures and amounts such as discounts. Ability to write reports and business correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
  • Ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with parents, staff, and campers that allow this position to function as the hub for all camp activity and communications.
  • Ability to connect with people using various communication techniques to convey the camp's message of welcome to everyone.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds while moving brochures and camper records to storage closet.

Nice-to-haves

  • CPR/AED and First Aid certification is required upon hire and must be maintained throughout employment.
