About the position

The Office Manager at Lumbermen's will oversee customer service, quoting, and administrative activities within the Cottage Grove Building Materials Division. This role involves leading a team, coordinating information flow between departments, and driving operational excellence through continuous improvement and lean management principles. The Office Manager will also support the Customer Service team and ensure a collaborative work environment that aligns with the company's mission and values.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and model Lumbermen's core values.
  • Demonstrate support and leadership as a working supervisor.
  • Prioritize, assign, and balance work for employee owners.
  • Coordinate the flow of information between departments.
  • Oversee order-entry processes.
  • Demonstrate strong decision-making and proactive problem-solving skills.
  • Develop and maintain training aids and schedules for new employee owners.
  • Lead problem-solving teams utilizing lean principles.
  • Confer with department managers to identify potential issues or changes in shipping timeframes.
  • Interact with warehouse leadership to resolve customer issues.
  • Encourage and promote an environment that creates raving fans internally and externally.
  • Drive operational excellence by monitoring labor budgets and Key Performance Indicators.
  • Model and lead a culture of continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-5 years of customer service experience.
  • 1-2 years of leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Prior experience in ERP software preferred.
  • Experience in lean management systems and continuous improvement.
