Atlas Medical Group is actively recruiting for two floating office/medical assistants to join our practice offices in Port Huron, Michigan. This role will require flexibility to work onsite weekly, and we are seeking full-time candidates who are interested in growth opportunities and providing excellent care. We offer benefits, paid holiday time, and competitive wages. The hours for this role will vary but average 34 hours per week, with availability to work as scheduled on Saturdays potentially required. As an office/medical assistant, you will play a crucial role in assisting with patient care. Your responsibilities will include completing patient check-ins, prepping patients, escorting them to exam rooms, and preparing exam or treatment rooms for the next patient. You will maintain electronic medical records, document findings, measure and record vital signs, and ensure that exam rooms are stocked and ready for the next patient. Additionally, you will maintain supplies, equipment, and sterilize instruments while practicing OSHA safety standards and performing accurate, legal, and ethical documentation. You will also assist with responding to patient phone calls or in-person questions, routing them to other team members as appropriate, and providing follow-up instructions respectfully and efficiently. Billing procedures for multiple provider payers will be part of your duties, as well as applying and collecting non-insured fees where applicable. You will assist and rotate at the front desk with check-in and check-out processes, scheduling appointments, verifying insurance, and collecting patient copays and coinsurance payments.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains electronic medical records, including documenting findings on the patient record.

  • Ensures exam rooms are stocked appropriately and ready for the next patient.
  • Maintains supplies, equipment, stocks, and sterilizes instruments; practices OSHA safety standards; and performs accurate, legal, and ethical documentation.
  • Assists with responding to patient phone calls or in-person questions and routing them to other team members as appropriate, providing follow-up instructions respectfully and efficiently.
  • Performs billing procedures for multiple provider payers and applies and collects non-insured fees where applicable.
  • Assists/Rotates at the front desk with check-in and check-out, scheduling appointments, insurance verification, and taking patient copays and coinsurance payments.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Successful completion of Medical Assistant Training and Certification preferred.
  • Two years previous experience as a Medical Assistant desired.
  • Prior experience as a Medical Assistant in a Podiatric Practice or in Wound Care preferred.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support Certificate required.
  • Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification preferred.
  • A clean driving record and reliable transportation.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in Wound care is preferred.
