About the position
The Office Respiratory Therapist at Carolina Pulmon & Critical Care is responsible for providing professional respiratory care to patients, ensuring high-quality service and patient education. The role involves performing diagnostic procedures, implementing physician orders, and maintaining equipment, all while adhering to health and safety regulations. The therapist will work closely with physicians and other healthcare staff to deliver comprehensive care and support to patients.
Responsibilities
- Perform diagnostic procedures such as Pulmonary Function Tests and interpret results.
- Implement physician orders and document verbal respiratory care orders.
- Provide routine oxygen therapy and patient education.
- Conduct patient interviews and assist with minor procedures in the exam room.
- Respond to emergency situations, including performing cardio-pulmonary resuscitation.
- Maintain and operate medical equipment, ensuring routine maintenance and supply levels.
- Participate in in-service education and training programs.
- Assist with medication management and patient care activities.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulatory agencies.
- Provide support and guidance for clinical policies and procedures.
Requirements
- Graduate of a 2-year Associate Degree AMA accredited program for Respiratory Care.
- Licensed Respiratory Therapist by the Board of Medical Examiners for the State of South Carolina.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certified within 90 days of employment.
- General knowledge of medical ethics and confidentiality.
