About the position

The Office Support Person VI - Inheritance Tax Clerk position is a full-time role based in Montgomery County, Pennsylvania. This position is primarily responsible for the docketing of Inheritance Tax, accepting payments related to inheritance tax, and generating daily itemizations of inheritance tax receipts. The role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to manage various administrative tasks related to inheritance tax documentation and reporting. Key responsibilities include docketing all County Forms such as Inventory, Certification of Notice, and Status Report, as well as pulling daily itemizations and monthly reports for inheritance tax. The clerk will prepare and submit the Inheritance Monthly Report to the Register of Wills for certification and issue copies to the PA Department of Revenue. Daily deposits for inheritance tax payments are also part of the duties, along with researching county files for estate information and assigning file numbers for non-probate estates. The position requires effective communication skills, as the clerk will engage in verbal, written, and telephone contact with customers. Additionally, the clerk will prepare all inheritance documents for scanning and mail duplicate copies of the Rev-1500 (Inheritance Tax Form) to the Bureau of Individual Tax Division. Other duties may be assigned as necessary, making flexibility and adaptability important traits for this role.

Responsibilities

  • Docketing of Inheritance Tax and accepting inheritance tax payments.

  • Pull daily itemization of Inheritance Tax Receipts.
  • Pull Monthly Report for Inheritance Tax.
  • Prepare and submit the Inheritance Monthly Report and issue it to the Register of Wills for certification.
  • Issue the PA Department of Revenue copies of Register of Wills Monthly Report.
  • Daily deposit for inheritance tax payments.
  • Research County files for estate information.
  • Assign file numbers for Non-probate Estates.
  • Engage in verbal, written, and telephone contact with customers.
  • Prepare all inheritance documents for scanning.
  • Mail duplicate copy of the Rev-1500 (Inheritance Tax Form) to Bureau of Individual Tax Division.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 2 years of related experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Word.
  • Proficient in all Register of Wills Probate databases and programs.
  • Professionalism in dealing with colleagues, the public, and the Pennsylvania Department of Revenue.
  • Ability to operate a computer, printer, telephone, copier, fax, microfilm reader/printer, and adding machine.
