Responsibilities

  • Providing hands-on support to ensure that security, emergency response, and fire protection equipment and systems are functional and meet license requirements.
  • Maintaining security and intrusion detection systems.
  • Maintaining the site access and control systems.
  • Ensuring the programming and upgrades of the above systems and providing operator training when required.
  • Assisting in providing security personnel, fire protection program, and emergency response team with the training and oversight required to proficiently meet the requirements of the site fire protection program.

Requirements

  • Community college or higher certification in law & security, fire protection or equivalent work experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Possess strong organizational skills and attention to details.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment, build trust and maintain positive relationships with a wide variety of personnel.
  • Clear criminal background check.
  • Willing to commit to training and certification as required by the job.

Nice-to-haves

  • NFPA472 technician level certification, NFPA600 certification.
  • NFPA1006 high angle technician certification & NFPA1006 confined space rescue certification.
  • NFPA1403, NFPA1081, NFPA1041, NFPA1033, NFPA 1031 certifications.
  • Knowledge of National Fire Code of Canada and National Building Code of Canada.
  • Knowledge of CSA N393 Fire Protection for facility that process, handle, or store nuclear substances.
  • First Aid & CPR certification.
  • Familiar with Canada Labour Code.
  • Drone License.
