About the position

The Official Court Reporter position is a full-time role within the Dodge County Circuit Court, Branch 3, under the Honorable Judge Joseph G. Sciascia. The role involves providing accurate and timely transcription of court proceedings, utilizing either stenographic or digital methods. The position is set to commence on November 4, 2024, and offers a competitive salary along with a comprehensive benefits package from the State of Wisconsin.

Responsibilities

  • Provide accurate transcription of court proceedings using stenographic or digital methods.
  • Maintain confidentiality and integrity of court records.
  • Ensure timely delivery of transcripts as required by the court.
  • Operate digital audio recording equipment when necessary.
  • Assist in the management of court records and documentation.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a court reporting school approved by NCRA or NVRA, or
  • Successful completion of the RPR examination by NCRA, or
  • Successful completion of the CVR examination by NVRA.
  • Training and/or experience in legal terminology and procedures.
  • Courses and/or experience in legal/court administrative and recordkeeping practices.
  • Demonstrated English grammar, spelling, composition, and punctuation skills.
  • Experience in a court or legal setting.
  • Ability to operate digital audio recording equipment and transcribe recordings.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certified Electronic Reporter and Transcriber certification from the American Association of Electronic Reporters and Transcribers (or equivalent).
  • Work experience as a digital court reporter.
