About the position
The Offshore Scaffold Builder position at Gulf Island Fabrication involves performing scaffolding job functions essential for the fabrication of iron and steel structures. The role requires adherence to contract specifications, quality assurance requirements, and established safety procedures. The primary focus is on erecting and dismantling scaffolding to create safe work platforms, ensuring compliance with safety standards throughout the process.
Responsibilities
- Erects and dismantles scaffolding to provide safe work platforms.
- Fits together steel pipe, support braces, and clamps.
- Lifts and positions scaffolding, bolts pipe, and places planks.
- Uses various hand tools.
- Performs additional duties as directed by the foreman.
- Performs all duties in a safe manner and in accordance with operating procedures.
Requirements
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen.
- Must be able to pass a background check.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- TWIC card required.
- 1+ years experience in offshore scaffold building.
- High school diploma or GED.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience with safety equipment (belt, harness, etc.).
- Familiarity with man lifts and high reach equipment.
