About the position

EAG is currently seeking an Oil and Gas Revenue Regulatory Analyst to join our dynamic and growing team. As a member of EAG, you will leverage your customer service, management, and oil and gas industry experience to drive continuous value for both our clients and the company. This role is crucial in ensuring that we deliver cost-effective business solutions to the oil and gas industry while providing a challenging and fulfilling experience to our employees. You will be part of a talented team of E&P professionals, creating an immediate and positive impact for our customers on a daily basis. In this position, you will be expected to demonstrate strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills. You will be responsible for meeting with clients and/or taxing authorities, preparing correspondence, completing data reconciliation, and preparing analysis and filings. Attention to detail is paramount, especially in the preparation and analysis of severance tax returns. You will also be tasked with processing prior period adjustments and filing amended returns, utilizing state and governmental databases proficiently. Effective communication is essential, as you will interact with external contacts at regulatory and taxing authorities, research state severance tax issues, and communicate findings to management and clients. You will implement efficiencies to streamline account reconciliations and journal entries while adhering to established internal controls and identifying opportunities for improvement. Additionally, you will perform and adhere to SOX and SOC controls, demonstrating a high level of personal motivation to work independently and as part of a team. Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines are critical for success in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients and/or taxing authorities, prepare correspondence, complete data reconciliation, prepare analysis, and filings
  • Preparation, analysis & Technical support of severance tax returns with attention to detail
  • Processing Prior Period Adjustments and filing amended returns
  • Proficient use of state and governmental databases
  • Communicate and interacts with external contacts at Regulatory & Taxing Authorities
  • Research and analyzes state severance tax issues and communicates to management and clients
  • Implement efficiencies to streamline and ensure accurate account reconciliations and Journal Entries
  • Understand and adhere to establish internal controls as well as identify opportunities for improvement
  • Perform and Adhere to SOX and SOC Controls
  • Demonstrate a high level of personal motivation to work independently and as part of a team
  • Exhibit organizational skills with a willingness to take on significant responsibilities and a proven ability to multi-task and meet deadlines
  • Flexibility to grow and change with company needs

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in oil and gas industry
  • Minimum 3-5 years of recent tax processed, concepts, calculations, reporting and payment obligations of GLO, ONRR, and Ute Indian Tribe regulatory obligations
  • Strong knowledge of the development, planning & execution of regulatory tax refund claims
  • Expert knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Experience with one or more of the following systems: OGSys, W Energy, Enertia, & Bolo
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting is preferred
