The B Operator at Foreland Refining Co. is responsible for maintaining and operating plant equipment safely and efficiently according to established plans and procedures. This position reports directly to the A Operator during shifts and requires effective communication regarding process and loading conditions to ensure optimal plant operation. The B Operator's duties include loading, unloading, and transferring all products in storage or production, as well as maintaining accurate records of these activities, including detailed logs of work accomplished and in progress. Night shift operators are also tasked with recording inventory and sampling storage tanks. Essential functions of the role include operating assigned plant equipment to ensure safe and efficient plant operations, familiarizing oneself with all Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and written procedures, and participating in the development of Maintenance Safe Procedures for all plant equipment. The B Operator must understand the company's safety policies and contribute to the safety program, making proper adjustments to operating conditions and understanding the consequences of deviations. Responsibilities also include safely performing truck offloading, loading, transfers, cleaning, and responding to emergencies, as well as notifying the Operations Manager of any abnormal operating situations or equipment malfunctions that could affect plant efficiency. In terms of maintenance, the B Operator is expected to inspect equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition and perform routine preventative maintenance on valves, pumps, and other equipment. They will assist the Operations Manager with maintenance coordination and updating procedures as required. Other frequent duties include maintaining established plant or equipment logs, grabbing and logging process samples for lab testing, maintaining area housekeeping, and performing other assigned duties as necessary.
