About the position

The IT Systems Engineer will be responsible for the development, implementation, maintenance, and daily operations of IDP systems and their integrations. This role involves software and user lifecycle management, enhancing operational standards, and planning technical process improvements. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in transforming business tools during a period of rapid growth within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead efforts in planning, engineering, implementing, and enhancing business functions such as onboarding/offboarding.
  • Manage and enhance the integrations between IDP and ERP systems.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on user directories, account lifecycle, authentication services, and surrounding architecture.
  • Understand long-term organizational goals and identify effective strategies that will scale with technological complexity.
  • Perform user lifecycle management, automation, and application provisioning as required.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff members in IT.
  • Collaborate with the security team to operationalize IT Security policies.
  • Optimize internal tools and operational processes by maintaining and optimizing scripts and workflows for automating identity operations.
  • Integrate SSO with existing departmental applications while minimizing workflow impact.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation, SOPs, and analytics for critical workflows and systems.
  • Provide Tier 3 technical assistance to Wikimedia Foundation staff globally.
  • Support Windows, Ubuntu Linux, and macOS operating systems.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience with identity management, IDAAS, provisioning, user lifecycle operations, and integrations.
  • Experience with management, integration, and automation of tools such as Okta, GSuite, JAMF, LDAP, Oomnitza, Zendesk, SSO, DaaS, SaaS.
  • Experience in a hybrid & international environment undergoing rapid growth.
  • Ability to create control features to ensure systems meet quality standards.
  • Comfortable presenting projects and communicating technical concepts to stakeholders and leadership.
  • Experience with automation languages (e.g., Python, APIs).
  • Ability to improve support workflows and design systems automation.
  • Experience with vendor management and contract services.
  • Experience with Linux server administration and troubleshooting.

Nice-to-haves

  • Interest in mentorship and employee development with potential for people-management aspirations.
  • Familiarity with directory architecting standards and security best practices (ITIL, COBIT, etc.).
  • Familiarity with contributing to IT Governance and IT Operational Policies.
  • Awareness of sustainability practices.
  • Understanding of the needs of a global distributed workforce.
