About the position

Oliver Wyman is seeking exceptionally qualified candidates for a Deputy Chief of Staff position in our Actuarial practice, providing a strong mix of strategic and tactical support to the Property & Casualty (P&C) South Region team. The primary responsibilities are to support the South Region Leader and Leadership Team to advance strategic initiatives and execute various projects, including monthly reporting, strategic communications, presentations, pipeline management, and other marketing efforts. This role involves leading and/or assisting with ongoing and special projects, aiding the Region Leader to advance and prioritize initiatives, and maintaining a solid view of the issues central to the success of our business. The Deputy Chief of Staff will contribute productively to a cohesive regional leadership team to serve our region, our people, and our clients as we drive the business forward to achieve the vision. This includes working collaboratively with the South Region Leader and Leadership Team members to determine and prioritize business strategies, recommending and advising leaders on courses of action to address myriad topics and issues facing the business, and identifying meeting outcomes needed to advance initiatives. The role also requires crafting agendas and facilitating discussions and actions to achieve desired outcomes, as well as overseeing strategic business initiatives from ideation to implementation. In addition, the Deputy Chief of Staff will provide senior leaders with insight and analysis on various initiatives and efforts, assess risk in decision-making efforts, and provide support and oversight for special projects and initiatives. The ideal candidate will possess a service-oriented leadership philosophy, critical and strategic thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team. They should be self-directed, solutions-oriented, and able to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines while maintaining a high bar for service, quality, and excellence in all efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Contribute productively to a cohesive regional leadership team to serve our region, our people, and our clients as we drive the business forward to achieve the vision.
  • Work collaboratively with South Region Leader and Leadership Team members to determine and prioritize business strategies.
  • Recommend and advise leaders on courses of action to address myriad topics and issues facing the business.
  • Identify meeting outcomes needed to advance initiatives and craft agendas and facilitate discussions and actions to achieve them.
  • Work with leadership to deliver, monitor, and communicate progress toward goals.
  • Identify, plan, manage, and execute needed communications for South Region.
  • Respond to inquiries on behalf of Region Leader and Leadership Team.
  • Partner with South Region Leader and Executive Assistant to align schedules with priorities.
  • Oversee strategic business initiatives from ideation to implementation.
  • Identify and help to solve problems and/or capitalize on opportunities.
  • Provide senior leaders with insight and analysis on various initiatives and efforts.
  • Assess risk in decision-making efforts.
  • Provide support and oversight for special projects and initiatives.
  • Identify and recommend improvements across the organization.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working at the C-suite or senior level in administration support or other role.
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience managing complex projects from ideation to completion.
  • Experience managing multiple projects with competing, tight deadlines.
  • Experience handling highly confidential, sensitive, and business-critical issues.
  • Experience building presentations for Boards or other senior leadership.
  • Prior management of internal and/or external communications for a senior leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and trust at the highest levels.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint; Project and Visio a bonus).
  • Aptitude to learn customized company software programs; Smartsheet and Microsoft Power BI is a plus.
