About the position

Oliver Wyman is seeking exceptionally qualified candidates for the position of Deputy Chief of Staff supporting the US Life Actuarial practice. This role is pivotal in assisting the Chief of Staff with various projects and initiatives that are essential for advancing the practice's priorities. The Deputy Chief of Staff will work closely with the Chief of Staff, senior leadership, and cross-functional teams to drive strategic objectives, facilitate effective communication, and ensure the successful execution of key initiatives. In this position, the Deputy Chief of Staff will partner with the Chief of Staff on a wide range of practice needs, which include business development, communications, and operational support. Responsibilities will involve gathering data, conducting research, analyzing information, and preparing reports as necessary. The role also encompasses supporting talent management across the practice, which includes recruiting, onboarding, and the training and development of staff. The Deputy Chief of Staff will monitor and evaluate the implementation of policies and procedures, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations. Additionally, this position will coordinate and facilitate meetings, including agenda development, logistics, and follow-up actions. The Deputy Chief of Staff will serve as a point of contact and liaison for both internal and external stakeholders, representing the Chief of Staff as needed and fostering positive relationships at all levels of the organization. This role requires managing confidential and business-critical information with discretion and professionalism.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with the Chief of Staff on a broad range of practice needs, including business development, communications, and operations support.
  • Gather data, conduct research, analyze information, and prepare reports as needed.
  • Support talent management across the practice including recruiting, onboarding, and training and development of staff.
  • Monitor and evaluate the implementation of policies and procedures, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations.
  • Coordinate and facilitate meetings including agenda development, logistics, and follow-up actions.
  • Serve as a point of contact and liaison for internal and external stakeholders, representing the Chief of Staff as needed.
  • Manage confidential and business-critical information with discretion and professionalism.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience working in a leadership role supporting senior executives or leadership teams.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience in writing presentation-ready PowerPoint decks and experience presenting to senior leadership.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support the business.
  • Prior client-facing experience with demonstrated ability to gain client trust and represent the company well.
