About the position

The Olympic Sports Nutrition Operations Coordinator will oversee the central and satellite fueling stations, manage their staffing, and coordinate all inventory and ordering for training fuel and nutritional ergogenic supplements for student-athletes in the University of Washington Athletic Department. This position is crucial for ensuring that student-athletes have access to the necessary nutrition to support their training and performance. The coordinator will be based out of the Performance Nutrition Center in the Graves Annex Building of the Athletic Department and will report directly to the Director of Performance Nutrition. In this role, the coordinator will be responsible for ensuring that the central fueling station is fully stocked and clean, managing the basketball locker room budget, and tracking inventory of food and beverage usage. They will also coordinate competition day and travel nutrition snacks for teams, maintain a sanitary environment by following food safety protocols, and interact with student-athletes to answer questions or direct them to appropriate resources. The coordinator will manage a small staff of workers, sports nutrition volunteers, and students, including scheduling and onboarding orientations. The position requires compliance with the rules and regulations of the University, the NCAA, the Big Ten Conference, and any other governing body. The overall responsibility of this position is for the successful operation of the program in full compliance with all such rules and regulations. As a condition of employment, the Employee may be required to participate in rules education programs offered by the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the central fueling station is fully stocked and clean.
  • Manage basketball locker room budget, stocking, and ordering.
  • Track inventory of food and beverage usage in the central and satellite fueling stations.
  • Manage a small staff of workers, sports nutrition volunteers, and students.
  • Coordinate competition day and travel nutrition snacks for teams.
  • Maintain a sanitary and clean environment for student athletes by following food safety protocols.
  • Interact with student-athletes and be available to answer questions or direct the athletes to appropriate resources.
  • Manage communications within the central and satellite fueling stations.
  • Adhere to budget guidelines laid out by the Director of Performance Nutrition.

Requirements

  • High school graduation or equivalent AND two years of experience in the program specialty OR equivalent education/experience.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Ability to work independently and as an integral member of the Performance Nutrition Department.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a fast-paced environment while still paying attention to detail.
  • Possess strong time and priority management skills and possess effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Practice safe food handling skills and obtain food handlers permit within 30 days of hire.
  • Be able to lift, push, and pull objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Be reliable and dependable and accomplishing assigned tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Food service experience.
  • Interest in becoming Registered Dietitians in the athletic setting.
  • Strong interest in the field of sports nutrition and management.
  • Experience in project management and managing a small staff.
  • Experience having worked in a collegiate and/or professional sport fueling station operation.
  • Strong communication skills and work ethic.
