The Assistant Director of Operations plays a crucial role in overseeing various operational aspects of the airline, ensuring that all operations are conducted safely and efficiently. This position is administratively and operationally accountable to the Director of Operations and involves supervising the Manager of Flight Dispatch, Manager of Crew Resources, Manager of Operations Planning, and the Airways Publications Assistants. The Assistant Director of Operations is responsible for monitoring dispatch facilities to ensure they are adequately staffed and equipped to release and monitor flights. This includes assisting in the quality of the Operational Control process and establishing policies and procedures for it. In the absence of the Director of Operations, the Assistant Director will have control over all company aircraft, making critical decisions regarding flight operations, including initiation, continuation, diversion, and termination of flights in compliance with applicable regulations. Additionally, the Assistant Director will monitor each flight's progress, ensuring safe departures and arrivals, and will have the authority to cancel or delay flights if safety is compromised. The role also involves close coordination with maintenance for aircraft crew scheduling and attending industry functions as required. The Assistant Director will review and approve all Flight Plan Requests and work jointly with maintenance to ensure that all operational policies are detailed enough to prevent any operational breakdowns. Maintaining communication with regulatory authorities and other external entities relevant to flight operations is also a key responsibility.
