About the position

The Marketing and Communications Manager at OMRI is a key role responsible for overseeing the organization's marketing, communications, and subscription programs. This position focuses on producing and disseminating content related to organic inputs, supporting the organic community, and managing a team of marketing staff. The role requires a blend of marketing expertise, leadership skills, and a passion for organic practices, with the flexibility to work in-person, remotely, or in a hybrid capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise the marketing staff, providing coaching and mentoring as needed.
  • Develop and manage budgets for the marketing department.
  • Create and implement a comprehensive marketing and communications plan for OMRI.
  • Conduct pricing research and analysis to ensure competitive product pricing.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of the OMRI brand and public communications.
  • Coordinate OMRI's attendance at tradeshows and conferences, including scheduling and materials production.
  • Manage media relations, including writing press releases and maintaining press lists.
  • Oversee changes and maintenance for OMRI website content and design.
  • Manage OMRI's subscription programs and customer surveys.
  • Coordinate fundraising initiatives as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, business, or a related field required.
  • 3 years of experience in marketing and communications required, with 1 year in a management role preferred.
  • 2 years of experience supervising staff preferred.
  • Demonstrated superior writing and editing skills.
  • Proficiency in standard office software and Adobe design software, such as InDesign.
  • Ability to quickly learn and communicate technical information to a non-technical audience.
  • High level of attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Public speaking skills and experience.
  • Experience with contact management systems, such as Constant Contact.
  • Familiarity with and support for the organic community.
