Johnson County Mental Health is looking for qualified applicants to fill the position of an on-call Behavioral Health Specialist for the Treatment Recovery Place. The unit operates 24/7, and typically individuals stay in the program for 3-5 days. This position is eligible for a shift differential specific to overnight hours ($1.50/hr), weekend hours ($0.75/hr), and evening hours ($0.75/hr). The first review of applications will be on August 26th. Job duties include providing assistance with personal care needs with limited supervision, crisis interventions (including evidence-based practices to maintain the safety of individuals), monitoring youth interactions and behaviors, and medication administration as prescribed. The specialist will also monitor and document the mental and physical condition of individuals. Additionally, the role involves teaching, coaching, and providing guidance and support on various skills to enable productive lives for individuals. This includes assisting individuals with managing their emotions, supporting individual treatment/recovery goals, and developing positive coping skills. Building and maintaining a positive and effective relationship with service recipients, families, and other service providers is crucial. The specialist will organize and participate in meetings related to care coordination and complete documentation for direct services provided to ensure timely and accurate completion. Transporting individuals receiving services to appointments, activities, and/or work is also part of the job responsibilities.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • One year of experience working in a human services field.
  • A valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working in a behavioral health setting is preferred.
  • Education may be substituted for experience.
