The On-Call Behavioral Health Specialist position at Johnson County Mental Health involves providing support and crisis intervention for youth in a new program at the Youth Crisis Center. This role is essential in assisting individuals with personal care needs, monitoring their mental and physical conditions, and helping them develop coping skills. The position operates 24/7, requiring flexibility in scheduling, and offers additional compensation for overnight, weekend, and evening shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance with personal care needs with limited supervision.
  • Conducts crisis interventions to maintain the safety of individuals.
  • Monitors youth interactions and behaviors.
  • Monitors medication administration as prescribed.
  • Documents mental and physical conditions of individuals.
  • Teaches and coaches individuals on various skills for productive living.
  • Assists youth in managing their emotions and supports individual treatment goals.
  • Develops positive relationships with service recipients, families, and other providers.
  • Organizes and participates in care coordination meetings.
  • Completes documentation for direct services provided.
  • Transports individuals to appointments and activities.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • One year of experience in a human services field.
  • Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
