About the position

Tenacre Country Day School, located in Wellesley, MA, is seeking enthusiastic and energetic On-Call Per Diem Substitute Teachers for the 2024-2025 school year. This role is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children in Grades PK-6 and are committed to nurturing and challenging each child every day. This training will help substitutes understand the routines of Tenacre’s students better. The compensation for this position is $172 per day, which translates to $21.50 per hour. Substitutes will enjoy a daily free, chef-prepared lunch and have opportunities to engage with students during recess, fostering rapport and connection. The school prides itself on an excellent communication system with teachers to ensure substitutes achieve success in their roles. Detailed substitute plans will be provided, and there will always be a friendly teacher nearby to answer any questions. The faculty and staff at Tenacre have a strong respect for substitute teachers, ensuring that everyone knows their names and is quick to offer assistance. The staff lounge is bustling with all-day coffee and snacks, creating a welcoming environment. Flexibility is celebrated in this role, as substitutes are not required to commit to being available every day.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver lessons prepared by Tenacre Country Day School faculty.
  • Organize the classroom environment to support children's learning.
  • Establish routines that facilitate effective learning.
  • Supervise students during lunch, recess, and dismissal.
  • Engage with students to build rapport and understanding.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Some experience in teaching or classroom management.
  • Effective and respectful class management skills.
  • Team-oriented with a strong work ethic.
  • Familiarity with Google Docs, Google Classroom, and Seesaw is helpful but not required.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience working with children in Grades PK-6.
