Responsibilities

• Maintains awareness of children with allergies and food restrictions.
• Offers substitute items for children with allergies or dietary restrictions.
• Ensures food service area is free of nuts and nut products according to school policies.
• Checks food labels upon receipt for compliance with allergy requirements.
• Follows the daily menu prepared in collaboration with the Director.
• Implements changes in menus as instructed.
• Ensures meals are ready to be served on schedule.
• Assists with food ordering and calculates amounts needed.
• Maintains a clean and safe kitchen area at all times.
• Attends required staff meetings and school functions.
• Maintains a professional appearance as per the employee handbook.
• Assists in other capacities as determined by the Director.

Requirements

• Must meet basic requirements of local child care and food service regulatory agencies.
• Ability to relate positively to young children is essential.
• Previous experience in quantity food preparation is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 35 lbs.
