About the position

The On-site Home Visitor position at Magellan Health Services, Inc. is designed to provide essential support to military families with expectant parents and parents of children from birth to 3 years of age. The role focuses on enhancing family adaptation to military life, promoting healthy relationships, and preventing family violence through various services and activities. The position requires effective communication and collaboration with families and community resources to ensure the well-being of children and parents alike.

Responsibilities

  • Provide support to eligible families with expectant parents and parents of children from birth to 3 years of age.
  • Deliver effective, timely, and confidential services for families at risk of child maltreatment and/or family violence.
  • Protect client privacy and confidentiality.
  • Identify and report suspected child abuse and neglect and domestic abuse.
  • Assess developmental milestones and referral procedures for special needs or developmental delays.
  • Strengthen adaptation to parenthood and parental capacity for problem-solving and building trusting relationships.
  • Promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills and communication techniques.
  • Facilitate community networks to reduce social isolation.
  • Develop relationships with local community and military officials to maximize program effectiveness.
  • Utilize community-based services to provide support for families in crisis.
  • Maintain an up-to-date tracking system with case status.
  • Participate in monthly conference calls and annual training events.

Requirements

  • At least two years of direct work experience in child abuse or domestic abuse, or maternal or child health or medical social work.
  • Current and active license as an LCSW, LMFT, or RN.
  • For LCSW: a master's degree in Social Work and a valid, unrestricted clinical license.
  • For RN: a bachelor's degree in nursing, a current unrestricted license, and two years of relevant experience.
  • Home visitation experience is required.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance, with the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies.
  • Ability to enter private homes with varying accessibility.
