About the position

The On-site Home Visitor position is designed to provide support to military families with expectant parents and parents of children from birth to 3 years of age. The role focuses on enhancing military mission readiness by supporting family adaptation to military life, promoting healthy relationships, and preventing family violence. The position involves delivering various services, including parenting programs, respite care, and supervised playtime, to families assessed as being at risk for child maltreatment or family violence.

Responsibilities

  • Provide effective, timely, and confidential services for families at risk of child maltreatment and/or family violence.
  • Protect the privacy and confidentiality of client information.
  • Identify and report suspected child abuse and neglect and domestic abuse.
  • Assess developmental milestones and referral procedures for indicators of special needs or developmental delays.
  • Strengthen adaptation to parenthood and parental capacity for problem-solving and building trusting relationships.
  • Promote developmentally appropriate parenting skills and communication skills between parent and child.
  • Facilitate community networks to build positive relationships and reduce social isolation.
  • Develop relationships with local community and military installation officials to maximize program effectiveness.
  • Utilize community-based services to provide support for families in crisis.
  • Keep tracking system up to date with case status.
  • Participate in monthly conference calls and annual training events.

Requirements

  • At least two years of direct work experience in child abuse, domestic abuse, maternal or child health, or medical social work.
  • Current and active license as an LCSW, LMFT, or RN.
  • For LCSW: a master's degree in Social Work and a valid, unrestricted clinical license.
  • For RN: a bachelor's degree in nursing, a current unrestricted license, and two years of relevant experience.
  • Home visitation experience is required.
  • Valid driver's license and auto insurance, with the ability to operate a motor vehicle.
  • Basic computer skills and proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to work under time pressure and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to travel as needed and adhere to AFSC travel policies.
