About the position

The Technical Writer (SOP Specialist) will be responsible for developing, reviewing, and updating Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) across various departments within the organization. This role is crucial in ensuring that all documentation is clear, concise, and compliant with industry regulations and company standards. The ideal candidate will work closely with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather detailed information and translate it into user-friendly documentation that can be easily understood by all employees. In this position, the Technical Writer will develop, write, and maintain SOPs for various departments, ensuring that all documentation adheres to company standards and industry regulations. The role involves managing document version control and approval workflows, conducting regular reviews and updates of SOPs to reflect changes in processes, technologies, and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the Technical Writer will be responsible for developing training materials and user guides to support the implementation of SOPs, as well as conducting training sessions or providing support to employees on SOP-related queries. The Technical Writer will also manage the documentation lifecycle, including archiving outdated documents, to ensure that all SOPs are compliant with industry standards and regulatory guidelines. This position requires strong writing and editing skills, attention to detail, and the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely. The successful candidate will play a key role in maintaining consistency and standardization across all SOPs, contributing to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, write, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for various departments.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts (SMEs) to gather necessary information and ensure the accuracy and completeness of SOPs.
  • Ensure all documentation is clear, concise, and adheres to company standards and industry regulations.
  • Maintain consistency and standardization across all SOPs.
  • Manage document version control and approval workflows.
  • Conduct regular reviews and updates of SOPs to reflect changes in processes, technologies, and regulatory requirements.
  • Develop training materials and user guides to support the implementation of SOPs.

  • Manage the documentation lifecycle, including archiving outdated documents.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing, English, Communications, or a related field.
  • Proven experience working with SOPs and translating complex technical concepts into user-friendly documentation for day-to-day use.
  • Strong writing and editing skills with the ability to convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent collaboration and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Familiarity with visual diagramming tools such as SmartDraw or Microsoft Visio is required.
  • Proficiency in documentation tools and software (e.g. Adobe FrameMaker, document management systems).
  • Professional proficiency in Spanish language is required.
  • Experience conducting training sessions or developing training materials.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with process improvement methodologies such as Six Sigma is highly preferred.
  • Experience with quality assurance processes and compliance documentation.
  • Project management skills.
  • Familiarity with Transportation Industry is a plus.
