About the position

The On-Site Virtual Registered Nurse position at Stephens County Hospital is a part-time role requiring 24 hours of work per week, specifically from 8 am to 5 pm. The nurse will collaborate with the nursing care team to provide quality patient care, perform assessments, and ensure proper documentation in the electronic health record (EHR). This role emphasizes patient and family teaching, quality chart reviews, and effective communication within the healthcare team.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the nursing care team to initiate the admission assessment process and document in the EHR for new patients.
  • Collaborate with the nursing care team to perform discharge teaching and document in the EHR for discharged patients.
  • Perform quality chart reviews as directed (fall scores, restraint documentation, Braden scores, etc.).
  • Review care plans/problem lists and make additions if needed, notifying the bedside nurse of the additions.
  • Review the medical record to verify that labs and procedures have been ordered, specimens collected, and notify the bedside nurse if/when things are missing.
  • Review the chart for results and notify the bedside nurse as needed.
  • Perform a medication reconciliation upon admission.
  • Perform discharge follow-up phone calls as needed/requested.
  • Maintain activity and communication logs for the shift as prescribed.
  • Assist with notifications to discharged ER patients related to late-arriving culture results.

Requirements

  • Minimum requirement - 2 year/Associate Degree in Nursing.
  • Preferred - 4 year Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.
  • 5 years of experience in an acute care Med/Surg or ICU setting.
  • Graduate from an accredited professional school of nursing.
  • Valid Georgia RN single or multistate license required.
  • BLS certification.
