About the position

The licensed Registered Nurse (RN) at MercyOne is responsible for planning and providing professional nursing services in accordance with established standards of practice, state board regulations, and organizational policies. This role integrates the art and science of nursing through compassionate, ethical, and respectful care, both direct and indirect. The RN plays a crucial role in the Nursing Care Team, utilizing a computerized or digital platform to facilitate optimal patient care management. This includes the assessment, planning, implementation, coordination, monitoring, and evaluation of the patient's care plan from admission to discharge. The RN is expected to employ clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills to ensure a seamless transition of care across the healthcare continuum. In addition to clinical responsibilities, the RN serves multiple roles including mentor, clinician, educator, consultant/collaborator, and navigator. The position requires a commitment to quality metrics and accurate documentation in patient records, ensuring that care is not only effective but also efficient. The RN must be adept at using electronic medical records (EMR) and must have a strong foundation in adult education principles to support patient education and engagement. This role is vital in elevating patient-centered care, which is a core mission of MercyOne, emphasizing the well-being of both patients and colleagues.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide professional nursing services in accordance with established standards and policies.
  • Integrate the art and science of nursing through compassionate and ethical care.
  • Collaborate with the Nursing Care Team to facilitate optimal patient care through digital platforms.
  • Assess, plan, implement, coordinate, monitor, and evaluate the patient's plan of care from admission to discharge.
  • Utilize clinical knowledge and critical thinking skills to support the plan of care.
  • Monitor quality metrics specific to the department and ensure accurate documentation in patient records.
  • Serve as a mentor, clinician, educator, consultant/collaborator, and navigator.

Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited professional school of nursing.
  • Valid RN licensure authorized in the applicable state(s) of practice/employment.
  • Minimum of eight (8) years of experience in health condition management, including adult condition management.
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records (EMR).
  • All registered nurses hired after November 2006 are required to obtain a BSN degree within 4 years of hire.

Nice-to-haves
