About the position

The On-The-Job (OJT) Trainee program is designed for high school students in Utqiaġvik, Alaska, focusing on providing them with essential job skills and work opportunities within the Arctic Operations & Development (AO&D) divisions. The program aims to enhance students' employability and self-employment prospects while fostering positive work attitudes and professional development.

Responsibilities

• Provide students with job skills based on work opportunities that would offer them a foothold in the employment market.
• Encourage students to adopt specific strategies and positive work attitudes to enhance their ability to sustain employment and self-employment opportunities.
• Inspire and motivate students to maximize the benefits derived from their participation in the program.
• Facilitate improved self-respect, self-esteem, and confidence, enhancing their ability to interact successfully in the community.
• Assist in developing the professional and interpersonal skills necessary for success in the workplace.
• Forge strategic alliances with private and public sector employers to create job opportunities and develop the corporation's human resource capacity.
• Develop shareholder/descendant interest in work opportunities specific to our businesses.

Requirements

• Must be a junior or senior in high school in good standing.
• Must demonstrate willingness to learn and be enthusiastic throughout the selection process.
• Placement within the organization will be based on interests, business needs, and available resources.
• Must be a UIC Shareholder or the Descendant of a UIC Shareholder.
